“ Ibu Aku jangan dipukul ya”. Ungkap seorang putri yang baru saja menjadi bagian dari Rumah Elim.
Jika hidup bisa memilih mungkin tak seorang anakpun ingin dilahirkan untuk ditolak, tapi itulah yang terjadi pada diri seorang putri berusia 13 tahun yang harus mengalami gejala kejiwaan tingkat rendah. Dikarenakan ditinggalkan, ditelantarkan hingga tidak disekolahkan sejak kelas 2 SD karena pindah dari ibu ke ayah dan terakhir ke keluarga hingga disiksa dan dikurung bertahun-tahun dengan alasan suka mencuri.
Berangkat dari keprihatinan dan kepedulian terhadap penderitaan anak tersebut seorang aktifis lingkungan hidup yang dekat dengan tempat tinggal anak tersebut menjumpai anak yang saat itu sudah dalam rumah seorang warga untuk penampungan sementara dalam proses pengobatan luka-luka akibat siksaan. Akhirnya Rumah Panti Asuhan Elim dihubungi untuk menjadi tempat yang aman baginya untuk melanjutkan kehidupannya.
Seiring waktu senyum dan tawa serta candanya muncul setelah tinggal bersama di Rumah Panti Asuhan Elim, walau masih harus didampingi serta dalam perawatan, pengawasan dokter jiwa. Dia sudah bisa bersosialisasi, berteman, bercanda bahkan bersekolah. Akan selalu ada ruang di hati untuk mu anak ku...
